"Scanch" was formed in Japan in 1982, while Rolly and
the other band members were still in high school.
"Scanch" is comprised of:
Rolly Teranishi
Guitar (Acoustic, Electric), Lead Vocals
Dr. Tanaka
Keyboards
Shima-chang
Bass Guitar
Obata Pump
Drums
In 1987, Rolly produced their first album (independently), called " Scanch n Roll Show" and featured 13 songs including "JAZZ", "Ultra Rocketman" and "Koi no T.K.O". By 1990, the band was signed by CBS/SONY (Japan). Their debut album was "Ultra Operation of Love Affair for All the Young Boys and Girls", and featured a redone version of what would be their most popular singles, "Koi no T.K.O." (Love's Total Knock Out).
In 1993, due to creative
differences, Tanaka left the band. Ogawa Bunmei joined Scanch as a guest keyboardist until 1996, when Scanch disbanded for good.
Since 1996, the members have all gone
on to produce various solo projects.
Please see the links page for their websites.

the album titles are listed here.
The full discography can be seen on
Rolly’s official website.
I also have created a crude Anthology here.

Anniversaries and Reunion
In 2005, the CD/DVD " Scanch: The Best" was released in commemoration of 15 years since their debut. March 2006, Scanch reunited for 2 performances in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.
They later released the mini-CD of 4 songs called "Scanch n Roll Show II" that year. In commemoration of it’s 20th anniversary, Scanch re-released their independently produced album " Scanch n Roll Show" as a CD in 2007. Available in CD form for the first time, only a limited number were produced. All the songs were digitally remastered.
July 2007, Scanch reunited again to perform a
"versus" concert with "King Show" in Tokyo.
There is no word yet on any more reunion concerts.
Rumors of Scanch reuniting for good, are false.

How Scanch Got Their Name
It is rumored that Scanch was named by a secretary working at studio somewhere, sometime. More accurately, a secretary called the band "scum" in Japanese. The precise word is 「ちんかす」 (chinkasu), quite a nasty insult in Japan.
Rolly quite liked the name and decided his band WOULD be scum, and just
rearranged the syllables to create 「すかんち」 (sukanchi or Scanch).
